You may have noticed that much of the artwork on this site is provided by Jochabel Reese. She is a good friend of mine. She is also a little bashful about her artwork, but I love it and am not ashamed to display it (with her permission, of course).
She does not call herself a professional artist or illustrator. She prefers the self-proclaimed title: Fancy Doodler. She says she's never had any formal artistic training outside of her grade school art classes. She enjoys sketching and painting nature, some animals, and on occasion I can talk her into drawing characters and people.
Jochabel also helps me with my writing research. When I am on a voyage, she stays in contact with me through phone and internet; providing historical, geographic, and scientific information that I may not have access to while in the field.
Having attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Jochabel received a B.A. in journalism and media studies and a minor in sociology. Her degree includes an emphasis in public relations.

Jochabel lives in the Mojave Desert with her family. She prefers a dryer, warmer environment, and is a bit of a homebody. Her idea of swimming at the beach is getting wet up to her waist, refusing to venture further out to sea in fear of: stonefish, jellyfish, sharks, stingrays, riptides, tsunamis, underwater lava vents, sea snakes, and saltwater crocodiles. I stopped asking.
